Customizable and More Predefined Statuses

Hello, it'd be cool to have the ability to create our own statuses to assign to assets. At the very least, a more complete list would be useful.
Approves/Change Requested and No Status is limited.
Some statuses like 'Omit' 'On Hold' 'Active' 'Innactive' 'In Progress' etc... could be useful

How does this sound for a phase 1 for this?
- Backlog (aka 'on hold', 'inactive')
- To do (aka 'active')
- In progress
- In review
- Done
- Canceled (aka 'omit')
Phase 2 would allow admins to manage the names and sequence of the workflow steps. Phase 1 would be fixed order.

Thanks Crafthive— could you elaborate on what sorts or roles should have the ability to create these statuses? I'm thinking Admins only to avoid a mess of statuses.

Also, who should be able to change the status of an asset?
Later this year when we start working on pipeline management, this additional layer of information will need to be there in order to shepherd assets through from concept into engine.
