It would be nice to support material definitions and be able to view rendered materials in the viewer. Possibly even supporting custom shaders, or configurable render paths (i.e render using Unity or render using Unreal).

Hi Khang,
Thanks for the feedback. We are looking at supporting material assignment via file relationship after the desktop beta. This feature request is referencing support for material definitions as standalone assets rather than material definitions on models. i.e substance materials, unity materials, or unreal materials.
All of that said, we are also looking at detaching the review (and upcoming annotation) tools when files are opened via mudstack to allow for review inside of other tools. This should help to add more value to review in mudstack.
We recognize that our preview of materials and meshes will likely never match 1-1 with source or destination tools and so we likely will focus our efforts there in the short term rather than focusing in improving our viewer.
We also hear from other users that even though the application features very shallow previews at the moment, the ability to aggregate all feedback in one location rather than across a series of tools does keep review from being entirely "unusable".
We will make sure to circle around to this request when we get closer to this functionality.

Is there a feature on the board that I can upvote for this? 
In our case beeing able to only give feedback for the model OR feedback for the texture of a model is a significant issue. 
If there is no possibility to see textured assets... I am unsure if we would use the review functionality at all. There are edge cases where artists want feedback on their fbx only. But how would one even give feedback for a texture if it is just the uv shells without beeing applied to a model? 
Either way maybe our studio just has a different use case than what you have in mind. I believe your product still ist great and i am looking forward to what it will become.

Is there an ETA on this feature? Without material assignement in the viewer, the review function is significantly worse to almost unusable
